Home support workers - in response to the Sun's article

As the union representing thousands of community health workers across the province, we agree wholeheartedly with this recent Vancouver Sun article on rates of injury in home support workers. Our members have been saying for years that cuts in funding have forced them to do the same work in less time. They are now expected to care for more patients than ever before, in the same work day.

Our members get into this line of work because they care, and they put themselves at risk for the good of their clients. They get hurt. More training for workers is a great idea, education won't help if there is simply not enough time to accomplish what you've been trained to do. Seniors deserve better, and the funding needs to be there to make it happen.
