Re:    Important Bargaining Updates/Monetary Package Presented to Employer

After the spectacular show of worker solidarity, when over 250 BCGEU members from River Rock Casino came to the bargaining site, on their own time, to deliver a petition demanding workplace respect to their employer, collective agreement negotiations resumed. Your bargaining committee is pleased to report that talks were lively and respectful. Scheduling language for culinary and housekeeping was agreed to by the parties, and there was positive movement on a number of outstanding language proposals.

On May 10th, your bargaining committee presented its monetary package to the Employer. Staff negotiators from the BCGEU spent the afternoon strongly advocating for improved wages, annual wage increases, and improved benefits. For too long our members at River Rock have not been receiving the fair compensation they so rightly deserve. Your committee is working hard to correct that, and we look forward to hearing back from the Employer when talks resume in early June.
