An agreement was reached between AdvoCare Health Services and BCGEU regarding benefit levels and premiums. Originally, the Employer was to present any proposed options for changes to the Union no later than February 1, 2018, and the members were to choose amongst the proposed options by February 15, 2018. Due to the tight timelines this year, the deadline to submit your option has been extended until March 9, 2018. If the Union has not chosen one of the proposed options by the given date, the benefit levels will remain the same and the premium decrease will go into effect on April 1st.
The following are your options:
Option 1 (no change to benefit coverages/slight reduction to premiums):
Monthly premium changes: single: $0.77 per month decrease; family: $3.53 per month decrease.
Option 2 (Increase vision coverage to $300/slight adjustment to premiums as follows):
Monthly premium changes: single: $0.13 per month increase; family: $0.18 per month decrease
The choice is really between a $3.53 per month decrease for family coverage for keeping benefits the same and minimal change in premiums to get an extra $100 for vision care.
