Your bargaining committee met on Friday, February 19th with the Employer and mediator appointed by the Labour Relations Board. After a full day of discussions we are please to advise you that a tentative renewal collective agreement has been reached. Highlights of the tentative deal include revising and simplifying the PTO language to make it easier to take your time off, access to PTO at any time during the year from January 1st (earn and take same year), wage increases of 4.5% - 5% over a 5 year agreement, and the addition of Family Day.
Packages containing all of the proposed changes will be mailed and emailed to each member within the next week. If you have moved but not updated your mailing / email addresses please take a minute to log onto the BCGEU website at http://www.bcgeu.ca/change-address to do so. Please review the packages carefully and bring any questions you have to the ratification meetings.
Meetings will be scheduled at each worksite over the next few weeks for members to vote on the tentative agreement and notice of the dates will be sent as soon as they have been finalized.
Your bargaining committee is recommending acceptance of the tentative agreement.
