As you are all aware, NTT DATA is the successful proponent to take over the Health Authority Services under JRFP (No. ON-002882).
We know that this process can cause uncertainty and be frustrating for everyone involved. The BCGEU and NTT DATA have met several times to discuss this transition and the surrounding questions including successorship and employment opportunity for our members.
We can now confirm that NTT Data has committed to having BCGEU members provide the same scope of services they currently provide for the Province.
NTT Data will abide by the BCGEU Collective Agreement relationship and agree to a successorship declaration from the BC Labour Relations Board at the appropriate time. The BCGEU is very pleased with this agreement and appreciate the commitments made by NTT Data.
"The process isn't over but NTT Data's commitment is a huge step in the right direction. I'd like to congratulate everyone who has worked so hard to achieve this goal. Moving forward, please know that your union will continue working to protect your interests and to ensure a smooth transition." said Stephanie Smith, President of the BCGEU.
The bid process is not yet complete, so more explicit details will not be available until further along the bid process. The parties cannot proceed further until the final protocols in the bid process are completed. The exact period for this is unclear at this point.
So please continue with "business as usual" with your current employer (ISM) and in your current duties until the process completes.
We will continue to meet with NTT DATA as the bid process progresses to ensure a smooth transition and that your collective agreement terms and conditions remain in place.
As new information becomes available, we will be communicating it to you.
In solidarity
Judy Fox-McGuire – Component 6 Vice-President
Joseph Ivens – Unit Chairperson
Darlene Thorburn – BCGEU Staff Representative
