Scholarships & Training Funds


Congratulations to the 2025 BCGEU Scholarship Winners:

The BCGEU is pleased to support our 2025 scholarship recipients in their continuing education.

2025 BCGEU Scholarship Winners

Scholarships of $2,500 for full-time students and $1,500 for part-time students were awarded to members and their families across the province with a total of $130,000 awarded in total.

Winners will be mailed a letter with instructions on how to claim their scholarship.

Members can also apply for scholarships from our National union, NUPGE. Find more details here.

 

Health Science Professionals (HSPBA) Professional Dues Reimbursement:

The submission period for the reimbursement of 2025 professional dues is now closed.

When a new collective agreement is ratified and we have confirmed renewed funding for the Professional Dues Reimbursement Fund, there will be an announcement with details about submission period for 2026.

Professional Development & Re-Training Funds:

Members in specific sectors may be eligible for training funds.

  1. Community Social Services

    Community Social Services Labour Adjustment and Education Fund for workers covered by the Community Living, General Services and Indigenous Services collective agreements. LAEF applications are presently closed. When more information becomes available about the next funding term, details will be posted here as well as on the LAEF website.

  2. Community Health:

    The Community Health Retaining Fund for workers covered by the Community Subsector collective agreement. You can find eligibility guidelines, an FAQ and application form here.

  3. Health Science Professionals:

    HSPBA Professional Development Fund:
     
    The 2022-2025 funding term is now closed. Please watch here for information about future funding opportunities, and ensure your contact information is up to date by logging into your member profile and staying subscribed to the mailing list.

  4. Facilities:

    FBA Education Fund: 
    BCGEU members covered by the Facilities Subsector collective agreement may be eligible for the FBA Education Fund. Apply for this training fund through the Hospital Employees’ Union (HEU), the fund administrator.
