LifeLabs Members election of Bargaining Unit Chair

An impressive response for calls to nominate a BCGEU LifeLabs Bargaining Unit Chair and four Bargaining Committee Members has resulted in the need to conduct elections to determine who will sit on the committee when talks begin to negotiate a new LifeLabs collective agreement.

The first step in the election process is to determine who will occupy the important position of Bargaining Unit Chair. Two members have accepted nomination for this position, they are as follows,

Nominated for the position of Bargaining Unit Chair

BCGEU members employed at LifeLabs, regardless of job classification or occupational grouping will receive a ballot package specific to the position of Bargaining Unit Chair. Again, regardless of your occupational grouping or worksite, voting for the position of Bargaining Unit Chair is open to all LifeLabs members, and all are encouraged to cast a ballot.

Balloting packages are being mailed to all members for whom the Union has current mailing addresses.

Mark your ballot clearly and place it inside the small brown coin envelope. Any ballot with more than one person selected will be considered to be spoiled and not counted. Place the coin envelope in the declaration ballot envelope and seal it. Fill out the information on the declaration ballot envelope and return it to the Union in the enclosed self-addressed postage paid envelope.

Your ballot must be received no later than Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.

Once a person has been confirmed as a member of the Union, the coin envelopes will a be removed from the declaration ballots. Only when all coin envelopes have been removed will they be opened and counted. This is to ensure that your vote remains confidential and no one can tell how you voted.

If you do not receive a ballot through the mail, this likely means that we do not have your mailing address on file. In situations like this, you will need to contact your BCGEU area office to obtain a ballot.

To help ensure you receive a copy of bargaining updates please provide a personal email address to the BCGEU at: http://www.bcgeu.ca/email . If we already have an email address on file for you and you wish to edit or update any of your existing contact information, please send an email to: http://www.bcgeu.ca/change_of_address.

Once a Bargaining Unit Chair has been elected, another election will take place to determine the four members who will sit with the Chair on the committee. Full details of that election will be forthcoming.
