BCGEU 50th Triennial Constitutional Convention – June 14 to 17, 2017

  • Call for resolutions for the 2017 BCGEU Convention
  • Call for nominations for Convention Delegates and Alternates

The BCGEU 50th Triennial Constitutional Convention will be taking place from Wednesday, June 14 to Saturday June 17, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Vancouver.  Convention is the time when you, the members, decide who the next BCGEU President, Treasurer, and Executive Vice-Presidents will be and what the mandate of YOUR Union will be over the next three years.

Call for Resolutions

Resolutions are put forward by members for members.  In order for your Union leadership to carry out the work on behalf of the membership it is your right and privilege to put forward your ideas in the form of resolutions.  The Resolution Form is attached for you to complete and submit for discussion and vote at the meeting referenced above.

Call for nominations for Convention Delegates and Alternates

Local 1003 will be sending two delegates to Convention, one of which is the local chair by right. As such, Local 1003 will be electing one delegate and two alternates at this meeting. If you would like attend the BCGEU 2017 Convention, you must be nominated and be elected to attend.  Interested members should complete the attached nomination form. Please note, in order to be elected to attend Convention, the member must in good standing and be able to attend the entire convention from June 14 to 17, 2017 inclusive.

*NOTE: If you are faxing or mailing resolution or nomination forms, they must be received at the office before 5PM on February 28th. Alternatively, you may bring them to the meeting in person.

 

AGENDA

  • Discuss and vote on resolutions to be referred to Component 10 for approval
  • Election of delegates and alternates to attend the 2017 Convention

Entering the Building

There will be someone at the South Entrance (up the stairs near Starbucks) until the meeting commences at 7:00pm. If you arrive after the meeting commences there is a panel to the right of Starbucks that will allow you to ring the office and someone will come and let you in.

Parking Information

There is street parking all around the building, on Hebb and Renfrew. Additionally, we have a large underground parkade you can access from Renfrew or Hebb. DO NOT park on level P3 as access is restricted after 6:00 pm. Park in the Yellow Zone as it is the closest to our building. At the parking meter, Select "Yes" when it asks if you have a coupon code; Enter the Coupon Code 5473.
