We are opening nominations for one position of Member-at-Large on our BCGEU Local 501 Executive Committee.

The term of this position will end in February, 2018.

Our Executive is responsible for:

-          being in regular contact with the Local 501 membership.

-          ensuring that BCGEU Stewards are in place at our twenty worksites.

-          keeping appointed OHS Worker Representatives at all stores.

-          developing recommendations to Component 5.

-          working to advance all of our interests in an effective manner.

The role of members-at-large is to take on committee work in pursuit of these goals (as assigned by the Local Chairperson), and to add their perspectives to the discussions.

The nomination form is attached.  Nominations must be signed by both the nominator and nominee. Nominations will close at 5:00pm Monday, September 19, 2016.

Nominations may be submitted by Canada Post or fax to the BCGEU Victoria Area Office.  The postal address is BCGEU, 2994 Douglas Street, Victoria, BC, V8T 4N4.  The fax numbers are 250-384-8060 or toll-free fax 1-800-946-0246.  Note: Nominations received after 5:00pm on September 19, 2016 will not be accepted.

If an election is required, all candidates may submit a one page (8½" by 11") biography (for example, union experience and why you would be a good candidate) for copying and distribution to members with ballots. This must be provided to the Area Office within one business day of the close of nominations, in this case 5:00pm Tuesday, September 20, 2016.
