Local 703 Members in BCIT Instructional unit - Balloting locations - Bargaining committee election - BCGEU


Further to the notice of bargaining committee elections issued on September 25, 2018, the union wishes to advise BCIT Instructors of the balloting locations for the bargaining committee election. 

There are balloting locations at every major BCIT campus, as well as at BCGEU area offices. Members at the smaller campuses are invited to vote at one of the other locations, or at your nearest BCGEU area office in East Vancouver or Langley. 

There is plenty of time to vote - balloting will close on October 30, 2018 at 5:00pm.

Exact balloting locations are as follows:

• BCIT BCM campus - Staff Lounge (room 350a)

• BCIT ATC campus - Staff Lounge (room 270a)

• BCIT AIC campus - Staff Offices, Kitchen area (room 2238)

• BCIT BBY campus - BCGEU Office NE1 Room 130 

• BCGEU Lower Mainland Area Office in East Vancouver (Broadway Tech Office Complex, 

#130 - 2920 Virtual Way, Vancouver, V5M 0C4 - Google maps 

• BCGEU Fraser Valley Area Office, 8555 - 198A St., Langley, V2Y 0A9 Google maps


For BCIT Burnaby campus, members are welcome to drop by to vote at any time provided the office is open. Bargaining unit chair Cory Langford has indicated he will be present at the following date and times to give members the opportunity to vote. 

• Tuesday October 9 from 10:00am until 12:30pm

• Wednesday October 10 from 12:30pm until 2:00pm

• Friday October 12 from 11:30am until 1:30pm

• Monday October 15 from 8:30am until 11:30am

• Tuesday October 16 from 11:00am until 2:00pm

• Thursday October 18 from 12:30pm until 2:00pm

• Friday October 19 from 8:30am until 11:30am

• Monday October 22 from 9:30am until 1:00pm

• Tuesday October 23 from 8:00am until 1:00pm

 

Biographies from candidates are included with the materials at the ballot box. Feel free to contact the candidates to ask them any questions you may have about bargaining priorities.

Voting instructions are available at every voting location, and are as follows: 

1. Review the biographies and choose your three preferred candidates;

2. Mark your ballot clearly for three candidates of your choice. Any ballot with more or less than three people selected will be considered to be spoiled and not counted;

3. Place your ballot inside the small brown coin envelope;

4. Place the coin envelope in the declaration ballot envelope and seal it;

5. Fill out the information on the declaration ballot envelope. Make sure to sign the declaration envelope;

6. Place your declaration ballot envelope in the ballot box. Done!

Every BCGEU member in the bargaining unit is entitled to vote in these elections. In order to vote, BCGEU Members must have completed a membership card. No card on file, no vote. If you have never completed a union membership card, please fill one out.

We also need your personal contact details to be as up to date as possible during bargaining. If you have moved or otherwise changed your mailing address or changed your personal email address, please complete a membership card with your updated details. Please place completed membership cards in the ballot box when you vote.

BCGEU will proceed with a vote count after the election closes on October 30. Election results will be announced in early November.
