Members at BC Housing- Maintenance/Service Division - Call for Nominations for Bargaining Committee - BCGEU

With your collective agreement expiring on March 31, 2019, it's time for you to nominate candidates for your new BCGEU Bargaining Committee.

There are three spots available:

  • Chairperson of the Bargaining Committee, one position
  • Bargaining Committee member, two positions

Any BCGEU member working in the Maintenance/Service Division can be nominated by a co-worker for the Chairperson position. If more than one candidate is nominated, there will be a ballot of the Administrative/Clerical division membership. Each member will vote for one candidate and the candidate with the most votes will be elected.

Once the Chairperson has been chosen, the ballot will be conducted for the two Bargaining Committee Member positions.

You can nominate, or accept nomination, to run for either or both positions, but all nomination forms for all positions must be returned before the deadline. If only one candidate is nominated for each position, an election won't be necessary.

In order to be nominated, a member and nominator must complete the attached nomination form and that form must be returned by: 5:00 pm to BCGEU headquarters on Friday, December 21st, 2018.

Each candidate who is nominated may complete, and send back with their nomination form, a campaign bulletin or information sheet on ONE 8.5" x 11" page which the Union will distribute to the membership with the ballots and post to the website in the event of an election. Any other campaign material used by any candidate is their responsibility. Please note that the information sheet should accompany the nomination form and the nomination forms must be signed. Please read and follow the instructions carefully.

Please fax or email your completed nomination forms to:

Thank you for your participation in this important process. Details of the election procedure will be distributed after the nomination period closes on December 21st.

In solidarity,

Linsay Buss, Staff Representative, Negotiations
