Members at Gateway Grand Villa - Bargaining update - BCGEU

We met for three days with the employer this week to discuss monetary proposals. The employer gave us their proposal for wages, benefits and other key items and it wasn't good enough. We replied with a counter offer and we have a meeting with the employer set for August 31 where they will provide a response. We may meet even sooner if dates open up in the week of August 27.

We are still working on several non-monetary proposals, however, we cannot agree on items that you've identified as priorities. This means that our fight for a fair contract is not over, and we may be asking you over the coming days to help us be clear on what we want in order to get a tentative agreement.

We've heard that management is telling you various things about bargaining and their proposals. We know that, because of this, many of you have questions about what is happening. We urge you to speak with representatives of your union who are on the bargaining committee or a steward if you have any questions about what managers are saying. We want to make sure you are fully informed and have accurate information about the bargaining process and about what potential job action would mean for you.

We'll keep you updated as talks progress. In the meantime, let's do all we can to show Gateway that we are united and will do what it takes to get the fair wages, benefits and respect we deserve!

In Solidarity,
