Your bargaining committee reached a tentative agreement on your renewal agreement on Friday, September 27. 2019.

Highlights of the agreement are:

• Three-year deal
• 2% retroactive to July 1, 2019 for care aides and LPNs
• 2% retroactive to July 1, 2019 – for recreation, housekeeping/laundry/dietary and cooks (all other staff)
• 2% effective July 1, 2020 – for care aides and LPNs
• 1% effective July 1, 2020 – for recreation, housekeeping/laundry/dietary and cooks (all other staff)
• 2% effective July 1, 2021 – for care aides and LPNs
• 1% effective July 1, 2021 for recreation, housekeeping/laundry/dietary and cooks (all other staff)
• Eliminate steps for the Recreation Aides – current incumbents move to the top step
• Additional two days of sick leave
• Added new language for leave for workers experiencing domestic violence

The bargaining committee brought forward the priorities you identified and when we were provided with the cost of all of the items we asked for, we focussed on wages and restoring sick days that were lost in previous rounds of bargaining.

Now members will have the opportunity to review details of the tentative agreement and vote on whether to accept the terms of the agreement.

The bargaining committee recommends that members vote yes to accept the terms of the agreement.
