Re:         Bargaining Update and Meeting

On May 3, 2016, your Bargaining Committee began negotiations with Native Education College to renew your collective agreement. Bargaining continued on May 9, 12, 17, 24 and June 13.

We have been able to agree on a number of non-monetary proposals. However, we have made little progress on monetary issues. Specifically, the parties have been unable to agree on key issues, including:

• wages
• job security
• severance pay
• benefit improvements

At this time, we have no further dates scheduled with the employer.

Your Bargaining Committee will be holding a very important meeting for all BCGEU members at Native Education College to discuss the outstanding issues and the challenges that we are facing at the bargaining table. All members need to attend this meeting in order to be fully informed on what the next steps may entail.

There will be two meetings scheduled for September which we ask that you put in your calendars now. Your bargaining committee encourages you to attend one of these meetings:

                          TIME:         12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
                  LOCATION:         Mount Pleasant Community Centre – 1 Kingsway, Vancouver
