Good news: after we applied substantial legal pressure, Gateway finally agreed to new bargaining dates.
We filed a Bargaining in Bad Faith complaint on May 15, 2018 with the Labour Relations Board based on the employer's failure to provide bargaining dates and using Lake City bargaining as an excuse not to bargain at either Grand Villa or Starlight.
As a result, we will be bargaining with the employer on May 29, 30, 31 and June 7 – with more dates to follow in July.
In the meantime, we've been meeting to review our proposal, based on your input and feedback, and we are ready to deliver it to the employer.
With fellow BCGEU members at Hard Rock on strike and the Gateway Okanagan casinos at impasse, our employer is feeling the pressure. They know that casino workers across BC are demanding more. We are not going to settle for anything less than the wages, benefits and respect we deserve.
We'll keep you updated as talks progress.
