Nomination for Local Executive - BCGEU



Nominations are now open for the following positions:

2nd Vice-Chairperson:

Assists the local chairperson in performing their responsibilities, and:
a) may be delegated to perform specific duties, like recruiting OHS committee members, or convening steward networking meeting or chairing local committees;
b) substitutes for the local chairperson in their absence;
if assigned, responsibility for OHS committees – should keep up-to-date lists of OHS committee members, and with the staff rep assess training needs, and whether committees are meeting regularly;
c) if assigned, steward networking. The vice chairperson will work with staff rep to ensure meetings of stewards are regularly occurring, and plan training.

Recording Secretary

a) assists local chairperson with their responsibilities;
b) with the chair, sets meeting dates and develops agendas;
c) is responsible for all meeting notices and minutes;
d) reports all correspondence at local meetings; and maintains files;
e) receives written reports of committees.

Members-at-Large

The number of members-at-large is set out in the local bylaws; and are:
a) assigned to tasks, committees and projects as required by chair;
b) may represent specific groups of members within a local and can bring their perspective to the local executive meetings.

Members-at-Large (Equity and Diversity Member)

The number of members-at-large is set out in the local bylaws; and are:
a) individual must be from an equity seeking group;
b) assigned to tasks, committees and projects as required by chair;
c) may represent specific groups of members within a local and can bring their perspective to the local executive meetings.

The positions are for the balance of the current three year term that will expire in 2021.

The deadline for nominations is: Tuesday, June 5, 2018

 
If there is an election for the position, candidates may submit one page of information (8-1/2 x 11, black and white) for distribution to members with ballots. This must be received at the area office within one business day of the close of nominations.
