It has come to our attention that members are being asked to attend phone training in Surrey. 

Please book your training during your regular working hours.If you have already attended, please make sure you are paid for your time at the training.

We believe that the following provisions of the Collective Agreement should be met:

Article 19.1, Courses/Examinations at the Request of the Employer:
Leave of absence without loss of pay, seniority, and all benefits shall be granted to employees whenever the Employer requests, in writing, that the employee take designated courses and/or examinations. The cost of the course and/or any examination fee and reasonable expenses incurred in taking the course and/or examination shall be paid by the Employer.

Article 27.10, Vehicle Allowance:
An employee who uses his/her own motor vehicle to conduct business on behalf of and at the request of the Employer shall receive an allowance of $.54 per km. The minimum allowance shall be four dollars.

If you attend the training and are not compensated for your time at the training, driving time and/or mileage, please complete a Hours of Work Investigation form. Once you have the form back, please give it to a Steward so the Union can work on achieving a resolution.
