Bargaining resumed on Feb 6th thru 8th in Kelowna and we are pleased to report that we agreed to a new and more extensive article on Harassment and Bullying, complete with an independent complaint procedure. However, there was no agreement on other significant language changes, including: scheduling, job security and assignment of promotional opportunities.
Additionally, your employer presented a monetary package that was woefully below anything we could agree to. Your Bargaining Committee is seeking substantial wage increases, access to benefits and other improvements to working conditions that you have asked us to achieve.
We don't think the employer is taking us seriously and so your Bargaining Committee has voted unanimously to seek a strike mandate from the membership. We want to show the employer they need to make us a fair and reasonable offer. Our members are worth much more than they are offering.
