PRT Talks Break Down - BCGEU

Bargaining resumed on Feb 6th thru 8th in Kelowna and we are pleased to report that we agreed to a new and more extensive article on Harassment and Bullying, complete with an independent complaint procedure. However, there was no agreement on other significant language changes, including: scheduling, job security and assignment of promotional opportunities.

Additionally, your employer presented a monetary package that was woefully below anything we could agree to. Your Bargaining Committee is seeking substantial wage increases, access to benefits and other improvements to working conditions that you have asked us to achieve.

We don't think the employer is taking us seriously and so your Bargaining Committee has voted unanimously to seek a strike mandate from the membership. We want to show the employer they need to make us a fair and reasonable offer. Our members are worth much more than they are offering.

Meetings will be scheduled soon in each area. Stay tuned for further details.

To help ensure you receive a copy of bargaining updates please provide a personal email address to the BCGEU at If we already have an email address on file for you and you wish to edit or update any of your existing contact information, you can use the same form.
