What's in the Component 1 Agreement?

On November 13, BCGEU members of Component 1 ratified their tentative component agreement. Of the eligible members that voted, 95% voted in favour of ratifying.

In this round of bargaining, our Component 1 Bargaining Committee negotiated a number of additions to the Component 1 Agreement.

For Corrections:

• Locally relevant matters, issues and conditions, other than grievances, which are among the general matters established for the Joint Committee in the Main agreement.
• Lockers and change rooms.
• Addition of youth custody for uniforms
• Uniform Maintenance tied to the general wage increase (GWI)

For Sheriffs:

• 3 more undershirts, 2 pairs of thermals,1 pair of winter gloves.
• Vacation scheduling posted by Dec 1 for following year
• Vacation scheduling by classification series in units with 10 or more staff.
