Rally against Violence towards Correctional Officers

Members of Component 1 are invited to come out to the Fraser Regional Correctional Centre (FRCC) in support of the continued efforts of your component in the fight for safer working conditions in B.C.'s prisons.

Targeted violence towards Correctional Officers has been on the increase every year for the past 5 years. Yet the lack of support from the Corrections Branch continues to drop off and we cannot let this continue.

We've seen a rise in PTSD claims by Correctional Officers and although we are recognized under the new presumptive clause as 1^st responders, we still do not see the needed support from management.

We want to show our solidarity with the members who are subjected to this increase in violence and the effect it has in the lives of our members and their families.

We will have food and refreshments for members, and will be giving out our new pins for members to wear to show their solidarity with members who have been affected and those that continue to be affected.
