Safety Tip of the Month
March 2017
PENDANT PERSONAL EMERGENCY BUTTON
Your Component OHS committee wants to make sure that stores with this device are maintaining and using the button properly.
One person stores have been equipped with the pendant panic button alarms and we urge those employees in the stores to use the pendant
For maintenance of these pendants wipe with a damp cloth or a wipe to clean and always ensure this is included in your monthly inspection.
This small device is designed to be worn by the employee working alone. Although the button does not trigger automatically, with a push of the button this will sound a silent alarm which will cause the LPRC to call the store. If the employee does not respond to the phone then LPRC will immediately call 9-1-1.
For your safety and the safety of our customers, at the start of your shift make this pendant panic button part of your uniform. It is light and small enough to either go in a pocket or wear like a necklace.
Please do not use the pendant as a false sense of security. Always be aware of your surroundings. Be aware of who is coming in and out of the store and also be aware of any obstructions that could cause injury.
Your Component OHS store committee are constantly working to make our stores safe for everyone.
If you have any ideas for “Safety Tip of the Month” please contact one of the OHS committee members and share your suggestion with them.
In solidarity,
Your Component 5 Store OHS committee,
Kusam, Ana, Christina and Kimberlee.
