Members at The Salvation Army – Comox Valley will soon have the opportunity to begin to improve their work lives through collective action in negotiating a collective agreement. BCGEU members are showing their enthusiasm for bargaining through submitting Bargaining Questionnaires. Already, one-half of the members have returned questionnaires.

In addition to the bargaining questionnaires, it is important that members be represented by a strong bargaining committee. This committee will work with staff representative Chad McQuarrie from the Union's Negotiations Department.

It is important to recognize that bargaining goals are set by members; bargaining priorities are established by bargaining committee members; negotiators work with bargaining committees to achieve best possible agreements. Member participation in the bargaining process is critical to the success of bargaining.

It is timely for nominations of members to work with Chad McQuarrie be received soon and that a bargaining committee be established. These individuals whom members select will be the leaders of bargaining your collective agreement, supported by union staff. The deadline for nominations to be received is this Friday February 2, 2018.
