Staff at Fraser Valley Aboriginal Children and Family Services Society (FVACFSS) rallied outside the agency's main office in Chilliwack on Thursday October 13 to draw attention to the crisis in aboriginal child and family services in the Fraser Valley.
BCGEU president Stephanie Smith spoke at the event. "You need a voice in your worksite to be able to address workload issues," says Smith "...Because when you improve your working conditions, you will be improving the services that you provide to children and families... and we all know that's what this rally is all about."
BCGEU represents social workers in the Ministry of Children and Family Development and at several delegated aborigianl agencies like the Vancouver Aboriginal Child and Family Services Society and Métis Family Services.
