Social Work Week celebrates important work of social work professionals - BCGEU

Watch the video celebrating Social Work Week

March 11-15 is Social Work Week – a time to celebrate the important work of our social work professionals who touch the lives of thousands of people and help them achieve their full potential.

Social workers help to empower people who may be struggling, providing them with the ability to solve problems, deal with personal roadblocks and access the resources they need to move forward in life.

In British Columbia, there are many types of social workers – including child protection workers, child and youth mental health workers, Indigenous service workers, special needs workers, adoption workers, resource workers, guardianship workers and team leaders. Social workers fill a vital role in providing a broad range of social services for British Columbians.

The BCGEU represents social workers in government and Indigenous services, and works hard to improve wages and working conditions for our members. We will continue to do our work so that you can continue your important work to improve the lives of people in need every day.

Happy Social Work Week!
