Your Collective Agreement expires on December 31, 2016. In September, the union sent a notice to members advising that nominations were being sought for three members of the bargaining committee, one of whom would serve as chair of the committee.
At the close of nominations, there are no nominations for bargaining committee chair and there is one nomination for the bargaining committee. As a result of the nomination process:
Diane Belliveau is acclaimed as a member of the Bargaining Committee.
The union is now seeking volunteers for service on the bargaining committee so that the committee will have a full complement of three members.
Responsibilities of a bargaining committee representative include:
- Attend caucus meetings and assist the Staff Representative in the development of proposals for collective bargaining
- Liaise between members at the worksite and the Union regarding priorities
- Assist in gathering and distributing information from and to members at the worksite
- Attend collective bargaining sessions with the Employer:
- Provide feedback and information to the Staff Representative during the bargaining process
- Participate in discussions related to the Employer’s proposals, and assist in developing counter proposals
- Assist with ratification or other votes or meetings that may be held related to bargaining
A leave of absence is provided to members to allow attendance at all meetings without loss of pay or benefits.
If you are interested in serving on the bargaining committee, please advise the union by no later than the close of business on Wednesday October 26, 2016.
Please provide your name and contact information by fax to 604-294-5092.
