The day that so many of you have been waiting for has finally arrived. We need to take a strike vote, and potentially go on strike to get a contract that provides real changes and wage increases to your workplace.
This took longer than any of us expected. This is the first time we have been in a legal position to strike, now having discussed all the issues. If we'd taken a strike vote earlier, the Employer could have filed a complaint and forced us back to the table.
The Employer has posted their proposed new wage grid in the workplace. They think you will jump at the chance for a few pennies after years of low wages. Of course, they only gave us this most recent proposal after we told them their original offer of wage rollbacks was a bad joke and we weren't even going to respond.
What they haven't shown you is everything they're saying "no" to and that list is too long for this short bulletin. We will be posting a comparison of the Employer and Union proposals and provide lots of information (probably more than you want) at the strike meetings.
Now is the time to demonstrate that we're serious about our demands. You need to vote YES for the STRIKE VOTE to demonstrate that you are serious about improving your working conditions and wages. Notices about meeting and voting days, times and locations will be out to you shortly.
Together we will make River Rock a better place to work.
In solidarity,
