Negotiating a first collective agreement is never an easy task, and this is particularly true when it comes to bargaining with your Employer. Let us fill you in.
Talks resumed on October 12th, and although some progress was made, your committee left this latest round disappointed by the Employer's continued determination to maintain the status quo, and unwillingness to schedule consecutive, week long bargaining dates. This is unacceptable, and we have told them so!
More dates please!
On a more positive note, both sides did come to agreement on a new Discrimination, Harassment and Bullying Procedure, and are close to signing off on a detailed Grievance Procedure. This is good news, as both procedures will give members avenues to address unwanted behaviors, and violations of the collective agreement. We fought hard for this language, and we are proud that it will be in your first collective agreement.
Bargaining is set to resume on October 24th! We promise to update you on this next round of talks as soon as we can!
