The Union has completed negotiations for essential services and held information meetings with members about potential strike action. We are the in process of finalizing a strike schedule, and bringing in picket captains for training.
The Employer requested that we meet at the BC Labour Relations Board today. Monty Qureshi and I were in attendance, and to be clear, the Employer did not respond to our last position in mediation and no decisions were made by the Union's bargaining committee, because not everyone was available to attend. This was simply a check in with the mediator.
The Union and Employer bargaining committees have agreed to meet in mediation at the BC Labour Relations Board on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. Full bargaining committees will be present at this meeting, and we will discuss a potential new tentative agreement with the assistance of the mediator.
If the Union's bargaining committee reaches a tentative agreement in mediation, then we will let the members know right away, and will set up meetings with you shortly after we reach agreement so that we can explain the deal and give you the opportunity to vote.
In solidarity,
