Your bargaining committee met with the Employer for six days on October 16th and 17th and November 15th, 16th, 19th and 20th. Good progress was made on the non-monetary proposals with only one or two still outstanding.
The Union provided the Employer with our monetary package in October to allow time for the Employer to cost our package and respond when we met on November 15th. Our proposals were comprehensive and covered the issues you identified as priorities including shift differentials, vacation entitlement, health and welfare benefits, Class IV Driver's licences, wages and a pension plan.
The Employer's response was inadequate.
We have agreed to meet the Employer for two more days of discussions on January 10th and 17th to try to reach a negotiated settlement to bring back for you to vote on.
We will again invite members to sign up to observe bargaining in January. Please get in touch with your stewards or your bargaining committee to sit in on the next sessions – it's a great opportunity to see how your next agreement will be forged.
Watch for another bulletin after January 10th.
