BCGEU vice president Doug Kinna will replace president Stephanie Smith on the advisory council developing a plan to improve our provincial child welfare system. Following an initial meeting of the council, our union determined the work of the council would be better served by someone with direct subject matter expertise.

Doug Kinna (BCGEU vice president – Social, Information and Health – Component 6) is the elected representative for all social workers at the Ministry of the Children and Family Development (MCFD). Through Doug’s representation, experienced, front-line workers at MCFD can provide valuable input as the advisory council does its work.
