The Union is seeking at least two BCGEU members working at Island Crisis Care Society to participate in the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
Occupational Health and Safety Representatives receive training from the Union with no loss of wages. They meet together with representatives of ICCS to discuss health and safety topics to protect workers from work related injury or illness.
It is important that the Union appoint additional representative(s) to join Darcy Botham who is already providing some of these important services. Darcy works at Samaritan House and, given the different working conditions of members at other programs, it will be valuable if we can appoint members who reflect the diversity of the Union membership.
If you are interested in considering this opportunity to help yourself and coworkers to have enhanced safety at work, please contact:
Staff Representative Ernie Gorrie at [email protected]
or
Local 302 Chairperson, Lois Higgins at [email protected]
or
Darcy Botham, OSH Representative
Sara Knippshild, BCGEU Steward
In solidarity

Staff Representative
