Electing Your Representatives to the Labour-Management Committee for Grand Villa - BCGEU

There will be an election to fill four vacancies for your representatives to the Labour-Management Committee.

The Labour-Management Committee is explained in Article 7.1 of the Collective Agreement. The purpose of this committee is to have a regular opportunity to sit down with the Employer to discuss the issues of concern to workers. Workers have the opportunity to contribute to the successful operations of the workplace. This committee will discuss new policies and try to resolve problems before they turn into grievances.

Your representatives at the Labour-Management Committee should be team players that want to make things better for everyone. They talk to workers and workers talk to them. They know what's going on and – very important - want to solve problems. Theyshould be knowledgeable and confident enough to speak to the Employer on your behalf.

We will be electing 4 additional representatives: 2 Supervisory and 2 Non-Supervisory.

The Collective Agreement allows for six union reps (plus the Staff Rep) at each meeting. Two members of the Bargaining Committee (Alex Lee-Young and Larissa Karpa) will be on the Labour-Management Committee to ensure that agreements made at the bargaining table can be discussed based on first-hand knowledge.

Nomination forms will be out soon. Watch for them and start thinking about whether you want to do this or who you want to represent you.

We will run an election to fill at least five steward vacancies at the same time. We need stewards from all departments but we are especially encouraging workers from Food & Beverage, Security and Slots to consider becoming stewards.

In solidarity,

Fateh Born, Staff Representative
