Election Of BC Housing Maintenance Bargaining Committee Chairperson - BCGEU

Balloting is now underway for the position of Chairperson, Bargaining Committee. Three candidates are nominated:

  • Liam Phipps
  • Doreen Aquino
  • Kevin Asher

 **Biographies submitted by each candidate are enclosed.

Balloting packages are being mailed to all members for whom the Union has current mailing addresses. The Chairperson is elected by referendum ballot and every member is entitled to vote. 

Mark your ballot clearly for one candidate and place it inside the small brown coin envelope. Any ballot with more than one person selected will be considered to be spoiled and not counted. Place the coin envelope in the declaration ballot envelope and seal it. Fill out the information on the declaration ballot envelope, including your signature and return it to the Union in the enclosed self-addressed postage paid envelope. 

Your ballot must be receivedno later than Monday, January 21st, 2019 at 5:00 p.m.

Once a person has been confirmed as a member of the Union, the coin envelopes will be removed from the declaration ballots. Only when all coin envelopes have been removed will they be opened and counted. This is to ensure that your vote remains confidential and no one can tell how you voted. 

If you do not receive a ballot through the mail, this likely means that we do not have your mailing address on file. In situations like this, you will need to contact your BCGEU area office to obtain a ballot.

To help ensure you receive a ballot and a copy of bargaining updates, please provide a personal email address to the BCGEU at http://www.bcgeu.ca/update. If we already have an email address on file for you and you wish to edit or update any of your existing contact information, you can use the same form.

Once the Chairperson has been elected, the ballot for the remaining two members of the Bargaining Committee will be conducted shortly thereafter.
