Nominations closed for the Local 1703 elections. The results are that the following positions have been filled:
 
Chairperson – Dave MacDonald from BC Place
First Vice-Chairperson – Megan Washington from Starlight Casino
Second Vice-Chairperson – Herman Hui from BC Place
Recording Secretary – Trevor Bodill from BC Place
Member-At-Large - Young Worker – Gracelyn Shannon from Town of Gibsons 

The Treasurer and Member-At-Large positions received multiple nominations and a mail out election will be conducted. The candidates in the election for the following positions are:
 
Treasurer:
Brent Amano – BC Place
Jason Jones – Starlight Casino
 
Member-At-Large:
Wei Chen – Starlight Casino
Hayman Sung – River Rock Casino
Rick Raymond – Town of Gibsons
Jason Jones – Starlight Casino
Lea Oliver-Cross – Starlight Casino
Brent Amano ­– BC Place

The candidate names above will appear on the ballots in the same random order. The worksite for each candidate has been noted but will not appear on the ballot.
 
Elections for the two positions will be done by mail. All Local 1703 members will receive a voting package that will arrive at the home address on file with the Union. The voting package will include ballots for both positions, candidate information sheets for those candidates who provided them, voting instructions, a coin envelope for the ballot, a declaration ballot (that you must complete and sign) and a postage paid return envelope. Ballots are due at the BCGEU Lower Mainland Area Office no later than 4:00pm on Thursday, March 22, 2018. 

Mail Out of Voting Package
The voting package will be mailed out with a return deadline of March 22, 2018. If you have not received your voting package by March 8, 2018, you should contact the Lower Mainland Area Office by phone at 604-215-1499 or by email at [email protected]. A voting package will be re-sent to you if there is sufficient time for the package to reach you by regular mail. If you contact us after March 15, 2018, you will need to make your own arrangements for picking up a voting package.
 
Completed ballots are due at the Lower Mainland Area Office no later than 4:00pm on Thursday, March 22, 2018. Ballots received after this time will not be counted. The BCGEU is not responsible for any ballots delayed or lost in the mail. Ballots can be submitted by mail or in person during regular business hours to the Lower Mainland Area Office, Suite 130-2920 Virtual Way, Vancouver, BC V5M 0C4. You may also vote at the Lower Mainland Area Office.
 
Once the election is complete, a bulletin will be sent advising members of the complete Local 1703 Executive.
 
Any questions should be referred to the Local Representative on the Area Balloting Committee. Contact the Lower Mainland Area Office to be referred to the Area Balloting Committee.
