Re: Nominations for Bargaining Committee
A bargaining committee is required for the next round of Bargaining. Nominations are now open for three positions on the Bargaining Committee: two bargaining committee members and one alternate. A member may be nominated for either position or for both positions.
The Bargaining Committee Chairperson and Bargaining Committee Members' duties include: attending face to face meetings with the Union Bargaining Committee and the Employer; communicating with bargaining unit members regarding collective bargaining and other bargaining related issues; performing research; participating in conference calls; attending meetings of the bargaining unit regarding collective bargaining; acting as deputy returning officer during votes; and other duties as they relate to the collective bargaining process.
Please complete the attached nomination forms to indicate your willingness to be elected to a position on the bargaining committee.
Completed nomination forms (attached) should be sent to the Union as follows:
- Nomination forms and biographies (if you wish to submit one) should be forwarded to Lynda Morrice, Staff Representative – North Island Area Office, by email [email protected] , fax at 1-800-946-0247, or by mail to 106-1650 Terminal Ave N, Nanaimo, BC V9S 0A3.
- Nominations will close on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 5:30 pm. Elections (if required) will be set up at that time.
Also attached is a questionnaire to find out what you think are the key issues at your worksite. Members' questionnaire responses will help the bargaining committee set priorities for upcoming talks. Please send your questionnaires via email, fax or regular mail to one of the addresses noted above.
In order to receive bargaining information and updates by email, please go to www.bcgeu.ca , click on "Contact? Update Your Contact Information" and enter your contact information and your home email address. Updates will also be sent to the worksite to post as bargaining progresses.
