In January 2008 the Health Science Professionals Bargaining Association successfully negotiated an agreement to resolve issues flowing from the Supreme Court of Canada decision that certain sections of Bill 29 were unconstitutional.  

The BCGEU believes that professional development for our members is essential. As a result, the final agreement included a fund for professional development education for all BCGEU members.

BCGEU Health Science Professionals welcomed the additional education funding and heavily subscribed in 2008, 2009, and 2011.

BCGEU members can now apply for a fourth round of funding for professional development pursuits. Members need to be aware that funding is very limited. Members who have previously received funds from the BCGEU Health Science Professionals Bill 29 Education Fund, are invited to apply but will be considered only after applicants who have not received funding have been approved.

As the funds are limited, a maximum amount of $1000 may be awarded, depending on the number of applicants. Group funding will be considered to a maximum of $3000.

Applications will be considered for professional development activities from April 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014.
