Listen and Watch: BCGEU vice president Dean Purdy speaks out on sheriffs’ concerns


Dean Purdy, BCGEU Vice President Corrections & Sheriffs Component 1, was in the news this week speaking out on the serious issues facing deputy sheriffs in B.C.

On Tuesday he spoke with CFAX 1070 radio for thirty minutes on staffing shortages and the need for a pay increase for sheriffs.

The same day he was included in a Global TV story on staffing shortages in provincial courthouses.

Dean Purdy also commented on the shortage of sheriffs in the Times Colonist story “Court ‘roulette’ tied to sheriffs; ministry denies shortage.”
