March is Community Social Services Awareness month in British Columbia

The BCGEU would like to thank all those who have dedicated their careers to helping others in need and supporting the most vulnerable in our society.

BCGEU vice president for Community Social Services Andrea Duncan said, “Virtually every family in B.C. has been touched by support from our Caring Professionals in the community social services sector.  We care for and provide services to some of our most vulnerable citizens including women fleeing violence, support for adults and children with developmental disabilities, aboriginal services, childcare, shelters and more.  When someone is in need, it’s our members that are there to provide the necessary support.”

In honor of those who work and provide services to those in need the Province has declared the month of March Community Social Services month. The BCGEU is the leading union representing workers in this sector with nearly 11,000 community social service workers around the province.
