Your Bargaining Committee reports that on Monday, October 7, 2019, the parties were able to reach a tentative agreement.

The Bargaining Committee is recommending acceptance of the four-year agreement that expires on December 31, 2022. 

The agreement consists of a 2.25 per cent wage increase on January 1, 2019, and 2 per cent per year January 1, 2020, 2021 and 2022. There is a reduction in the number of hours required to reach the full rate of pay in the tiered wage scale. 

There are improvements to vacation entitlement, special leave and health benefits. 

There are language improvements to minimize the need to interview for library assistant positions, occupational health and safety and there is now the ability to have disciplinary documentation removed from personnel files. There are also minor improvements to the language regarding the use of casuals, as well as housekeeping changes.

Any members unable to attend the meeting in person may call in via teleconference, 1-866-562-0090. When asked for the Access Code, input 363683#. This will allow you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. Further information and ballots will be sent to designated stewards at all of the libraries.

You will be able to vote at the ratification meeting. If you are unable to attend the meeting, you may also vote in person at the Kamloops BCGEU Area Office during business hours between from the morning of October 28 until noon on November 13, 2019. Designated stewards will collect votes as well. Ballots will be counted Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 1 p.m.
