River Rock Casino Resort Bargaining Resumes/Update - BCGEU

Your Bargaining Committee resumed negotiations with your Employer on June 6th. Three days of talks were scheduled, with two spent in intense negotiations. We were hoping to meet again on Friday June 9th, but your Employer abruptly declined to show up. We assume this was in response to the Union's successful "Sticker" action at River Rock, which was held on the same day, but we were never given a detailed reason. Despite this, progress was made during this latest round of talks.

Both parties spent considerable time discussing casino scheduling and hours of work proposals. Your new collective agreement will have strong language that promotes fairness in scheduling and fixed hours of work that promote stability and a healthy work/life balance. The parties were able to come to agreement on scheduling for Housekeeping and Culinary and we will fight for the same for Casino workers. We are getting there!

Finally, your Bargaining Committee was hoping for a response to the monetary proposal package that was presented to the Employer over a month ago. Unfortunately, they did not respond, advising that they needed more time to work on it. We expect a response when the parties return to the negotiating table.

Bargaining is set to resume on June 22nd & 23rd. We will update you as those talks continue.

To help ensure you receive a copy of bargaining updates please provide a personal email address to the BCGEU at: http://www.bcgeu.ca/updates. If we already have an email address on file for you and you wish to edit or update any of your existing contact information, you can also use the same form.

In solidarity,
