Xyolhemeylh Members Re:DELEGATIONS ACHIEVE BARGAINING DATE GOAL!! - BCGEU

Your bargaining committee met briefly with the Employer last week to set dates for bargaining.

Your committee has been asking the Employer for 2 days of negotiations per week to tackle the many significant issues that are necessary to conclude a first collective agreement.

In October and again last week BCGEU members delegated management in the Surrey, Langley, Abbotsford and Mission offices to demand 2 days per week of bargaining. BCGEU members in the Chilliwack office delegated their managers in October as well.

Together we have won more bargaining dates!! Last week we scheduled 19 days of bargaining with the Employer between February 26 and the end of May. Your Employer even changed the structure of their committee to allow more meetings to be scheduled.

This is a significant achievement! You've won bargaining dates that are over 5 times more often than the past year.

When we stand together in solidarity we can accomplish great things. This round of negotiations isn't over yet. We're still hoping to win important improvements that affect your work every day.

Reducing caseloads. Integrating more culture into your work. Addressing problems with job posting, staffing and workload. You've told us these issues are important to you. We'll all need to continue to organize and stand together even stronger if we're going to win the changes you want. What are you willing to do to win a fair contract?

If you have questions, please talk to an Organizing Committee member.

In solidarity,

Your Bargaining Committee,
Deb Young, Chair; Dena Silver, Sandra Postnikoff, Brent Camilleri
